FREEDOM TO ORGANIZE
The Employee
Free Choice Act
As a democratic, membership-run union dedicated to giving workers a real voice on the job, we know first-hand how badly our nation's labor laws are broken. We see it every day. We know from experience that the right to organize — a right, guaranteed by law — has been nearly destroyed in the USA. But, for the first time in a very long time, we have a chance to change that. Right now.
Status
Bosses say the law is fine the way it is. Working people know it's not. We think it's pretty easy to figure out who's right.
If you work in a non-union workplace, ask yourself, "What would it be like to organize here? Would that thought scare anyone I work with?" If people you work with are (or would be) scared by the idea, then you know the law needs to be fixed.
The right to organize must be restored. Your help is needed. But the time to act really is right now.

The Challenge
The battle over the Employee Free Choice Act has already turned into a deafening war of words, with facts, figures, claims and counter-claims just about anywhere you look.
People who have never been around a union, or a union organizing drive, may well be legitimately confused — especially with the millions upon millions being spent by big business ($200 million by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, alone) to cloud the issue.
But most Senators, Representatives and their staff people are also among those who have probably never experienced union membership or been part of a union organizing drive. So when the professional, well-paid lobbyist argues, "the law is already fair – it's got a secret ballot and an election conducted by an agency of federal government," it certainly sounds like a legitimate argument. But thing are not always what they seem.
Bosses know they have all but destroyed the NLRB election process. Spending millions to pay professional lobbyists to say that the law works is simply paying people to lie. And they know it.
