To Organize Campaign

Since early this year, we've been putting together an ambitious plan to reach thousands of unorganized workers with an aggressive organizing plan as well as a union-wide mobilization to urge Congress to pass the Employee Free Choice Act.

One of the first things we put together was a slide presentation for UE Regional Council meetings and at UE membership meetings. The message is simple: our standard of living as workers and our workplace protections are directly linked to the health of the labor movement in the United States.

One hundred years ago, weekends, vacations, holidays, holiday pay, health care, pensions, overtime, the 40-hour week – none of these things existed for working people. Every single one of them was won by the labor movement. And, without it, we guarantee bosses will take every one of them back. As most of us know, they've already started.
