The members of UE Local 1174 at Quad City Die Casting in Moline, Illinois, would like to thank the hundreds of people who sent messages to Congress on their behalf from our website. The UE Washington Office delivered every letter - in person.
But, no action was taken. At least, not yet.
Even though Congressional leaders have failed to rein-in Wells Fargo, the bank's anti-worker, anti-family practices are attracting more and more attention and coming under increasing fire.
Take a moment to visit the Jobs with Justice campaign to tell Wells Fargo to "Stop the Evictions & Wage Theft!"
Desperate for cash, Wells Fargo got $25 billion from US taxpayers to keep it open. The deal was simple: use our money to stay in business and help other businesses through the recession, too. Jobs would be saved and we'd all be on the road to economic recovery.
Instead, Wells Fargo cut the lifeline of Quad City Die Casting in Moline, Il, a viable, 60 year old family-run business. One hundred good jobs were destroyed. Now, the bank has refused to allow the company to pay Quad City workers some $220,000 they are owed.

But there's more. While throwing thousands of families out of their homes through mortgage foreclosures, it's been spending millions on lobbyists, campaigning to defeat banking reforms and employee free choice — among many more.

Thumbing it's nose at all of us, the Bank has just increased the pay for it's CEO from $900,000 to $5.6 million (Wall Street Journal, 8/7/09). The bank says it simply must pay its people "fairly."
