Demand the Senate Protect Essential Workers

Julio 15, 2020

Essential workers have continued to ensure that we can have access to food, health care, sanitation, and other vital goods and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yet employers have failed to provide essential workers with safe conditions, appropriate equipment, safety standards, or job protections, which has led to the deaths of far too many working people.

A group of UE’s labor and environmental allies have put together this video to honor those who have lost their lives. As Mother Jones says, we must pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living.

If employers will not ensure the health, well-being and financial security of all essential workers, the government must step in to protect workers’ lives. Call the Senate switchboard (202-224-3121) and ask to be transferred to your Senators’ offices.

Tell them that the next federal stimulus package must include the urgent provisions laid out in the Essential Workers Bill of Rights: health and safety protections, fair compensation, truly universal sick and family leave, health care security and job protections. They must also oppose any provision granting employers immunity for COVID-related lawsuits, letting corporations who egregiously put workers’ lives at risk off the hook.
