UE Local 506 issued the following statement after reaching a settlement over an injunction filed in Erie County Court to limit workers’ right to picket was reached between UE and Wabtec officials. 

“Our top priority is safety. It is a tremendously difficult position for men and women who are standing in 12-degree weather for hours and hours—the warmest moments coming from the unwavering support of their community who join them or encourage them with a honk and a wave. This action requires an unthinkable amount of courage and discipline, and we are proud of our members.

“We appreciate the ongoing police presence at the picket line; their steady hand, and professionalism. The men and women of Lawrence Park Township, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, City of Erie Police, and Lawrence Park Police Department are a reflection of the good people of Erie, Pennsylvania.”
