February 22nd Update: Pour on the Pressure!

Febrero 21, 2011

Washington, D.C.

The battle to defend working people from the radical attacks of Republican politicians, big business, and the corporate news media is spreading all across the country. Tens of thousands of working people are demonstrating in Wisconsin and Ohio, with reports of regional actions coming in from dozens of cities and towns. UE members in several states have gone into action in defense of our wages, benefits, working conditions, and the very right of our unions to exist.

Wherever you live or work it is time to go into action and tell lawmakers to STOP! their attacks on working people and our unions. To find out who you need to call at the state level go to Congress Watch and enter your zip code to get their phone and other contact information. Call your state lawmakers wherever you live, and be on the lookout for local activities in support of the battles in Wisconsin and Ohio.

For a listing of actions underway across the country visit the Jobs with Justice web page.

For detailed information on the battles underway in Wisconsin and Ohio visit the web pages of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO and Progress Ohio. Our message to the politicians in Wisconsin is to "Kill the bill!" In Ohio it is to "Stop SB5!" When calling Republican lawmakers let them now that you are well aware of their anti-worker and anti-union agenda and that they should STOP! their assault on working people. When contacting Democrats, urge them to stand firm at this critical moment -- there can be no compromise with the vicious anti-union attacks we are experiencing in Wisconsin and Ohio.

Keep up the pressure; pour it on! Please call and e-mail your co-workers, friends, and family and urge them to sound off in defense of all working people. Stay tuned to the UE web page for breaking news and information.
