UPDATE March 18: Wisconsin Judge Halts Corrupt Republican Scheme to Destroy Collective Bargaining

Marzo 18, 2011

Madison, Wisconsin

A judge in Madison, Wisconsin has stopped the implementation of the radical Republican legislation which destroys the collective bargaining rights of public sector workers in Wisconsin. The judge ruled that Republican politicians jammed the radical anti-union legislation through the Wisconsin Senate without following the law requiring a full 24 hours advance notice. Fearing that their scheme might derail due to growing public outrage at their anti-worker actions, Republicans rushed the legislation through the Senate on March 10th with just 2 hours notice. The ruling by the judge will compel the Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate to pass the legislation again, this time with the full notice. Since the beginning of the battle in Wisconsin in early February, protests by working people in opposition to these disgraceful attacks have spread to all 50 states.  More than one million working people have participated in the several thousand actions held since then, making this by far the largest labor upsurge in the United States in living memory.
