UE Members Urged to Mobilize for Election Day

October 15, 2010

Washington

Our national and state elections are fast approaching on Tuesday, November 2.  The stakes are high – and so is the frustration level of most working people, UE members included. With unemployment running at double digit levels, corporations wiping out health benefits and pension plans, and public sector budgets and workers under assault from all sides -- the 2010 election will be one of the most critical contests we have faced in years.

On the home page of this site, in the section “Vote! November 2 - We Can’t Afford Another 1994,” you can download two important new leaflets for use with your UE membership.  Your local has also received these leaflets via U.S. Mail. All UE locals and members are urged to immediately download, copy, and distribute these educational leaflets to UE members prior to the November 2 election.

Both leaflets explain why it is important for UE members to turn out on Election Day, as well as why it is critical that our members consider carefully the lawmakers and candidates who they vote for, or vote against. It is imperative that we pull out all stops to avoid a repeat of the devastating 1994 election disaster. Stay tuned for more news and information regarding the coming elections.
