WASHINGTON
The national UE Political Action Conference will be held this year in Washington, D.C. from Sunday, September 19 to Wednesday, Sept. 22. It is now time for UE local unions to start planning in order to ensure that your membership is represented at this important event. The Political Action Conference has been discussed at UE regional and sub-regional meetings over the past several months, and detailed hotel cost and logistical information will be issued shortly.
During the Conference rank-and-file UE members will have the opportunity to raise the critical issues facing working people directly with lawmakers. Among these are the need for dramatically expanded jobs legislation, improvement of the new health reform legislation, and restoration of the right to organize, among others. The Conference will also feature briefings on these key issues, guest speakers, and more.
