Opponents of Wisconsin's union-busting governor Scott Walker today filed more than one million signatures on petitions calling for his recall. The legal requirement was for 540,000 valid signatures. The petitions delivered to the state Government Accountability Board in Madison weighed 1.5 tons.
On the same day, union supporters filed petitions with far more than the required number of signatures to recall the Republican lieutenant governor and four Republican state senators, including Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, all of whom supported Walker's union-busting legislation. It now appears certain that there will be a recall election in Wisconsin in a few months.
