UE Local 279 members unanimously ratified a new four-year contract with Trillium Valves in mid-November that includes a 16 percent raise over the life of the contract.
Each year, the members will receive a four percent raise. The contract ensures that members will not see any increases to their insurance premiums and the members fought hard to keep their strong medical plan the same.
The members were able to negotiate a new specialized job position that comes with a three percent wage increase once a worker receives certification. New language was also won ensuring the company would commit to working with the union to resolve problems in the future.
The negotiating committee consisted of President Stephen Chabot, Chief Steward Jason Gallant, and Ricky Thompson. They were assisted by Staff Coordinator Wayne Morrison.
