On Thursday the final day of UE’s 78th convention, delegates heard remarks from Molly Greenberg of the Moving Forward Network and Tommy Carden of Warehouse Workers for Justice.

In a long day of debate and discussion on Wednesday, convention delegates considered resolutions on women’s, LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights, a just economy for all and public education, and defending civil liberties.
As Day 3 of UE’s 78th Convention opened, delegates considered the resolution “Fight Racism” — a topic about which UE members had a lot to say. Over a dozen members spoke on the resolution, all expressing strong support for what Angaza Laughinghouse from Local 150 called a “very powerful resolution.”
“We have had an incredible two years of organizing in this union,” declared Director of Organization Mark Meinster as he began his report to the UE 78th convention this afternoon. “Young workers are leading a resurgence of unionism in this country.”
UE’s 78th convention opened today in Pittsburgh with remarks from two women who have led extraordinary movements that have transformed the politics of their cities, Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates and Congresswoman Summer Lee (D-PA).
