UE Local 770 has a close relationship with Local 728 in Williamsburg, KY, and when they heard how Local 728 members were affected by tornadoes in May they wanted to do something to aid their fellow UE members. After discussion in their committee group chat, Committeeperson Melinda Stackhouse had the idea to organize a 50/50 raffle. Committeepeople sold tickets at work, and the local held the 50/50 raffle at their June meeting and voted to match donations from the local treasury to raise a total of $250.
Severe tornadoes and other storm damage have also been an issue in Indiana this year. “It could have happened to us,” said Vice President Kendall Grobis.
